Photographing the Art of Nature: A Celebration of BeautyAugust 23-27, 2007 Brenda Tharp
It takes a creative eye and a mastering of technique to capture what we see when photographing nature. Light, weather and circumstance also play a role in the results of our efforts. Brenda Tharp, a professional outdoor photographer, will guide you on a journey of making photographs that celebrate the beauty of nature - including the textures, lines, patterns, and forms found in the natural world. She will discuss how to work with natural light applying advanced composition techniques, and how to use the existing design of nature in your compositions to create images with impact. Additional topics include understanding color, using fill-flash and digital workflow. Brenda will also take you beyond the traditional nature photograph into the realm of the expressive and abstract image - and show you how to use motion, panning techniques and more to create impressionistic images of nature. From the grandeur of mountain landscapes, to the pattern of an aspen forest and the reflective waters of a mountain stream, scenes of astounding natural beauty await photographers who attend this workshop at Sundance. You're guaranteed to find plenty of photographic opportunities in this stunning location. Daily field trips will make use of the sunrise/early morning light and late afternoon/sunset light, as well as other lighting conditions that present themselves.
